Section 1 - Overview

The Plum Case TIK-523 is a specialty case, manufactured in Springfield, Tennessee, which provides connectivity to two cellular carriers – and if both carriers are available, the case can connect to both simultaneously.  The case is built with world class antennas imported from England and tests have shown them to be far superior compared to any other antennas tested by Plum Laboratories.  Additionally, the antennas are permanently mounted to the inside of the lid which removes any required assembly.  The Plum Antenna Array (covered by six U.S. Patents), gives exceptional reception and transmission capabilities due to providing specific distance increments in signal reception.  More technical information regarding the antenna arrays used by Plum Labs may be found in Section 5. Additionally, as will be found in Section 4 of this document, five carrier frequency aggregation is available by each of the two cellular firms.  This can dramatically increase bandwidth throughput.

The Plum Case TIK-523 is FirstNet compatible, and more importantly, will automatically “fail-over” via the same SIM card port to AT&T should Band 14 FirstNet be unavailable.  This allows the second SIM card port to be utilized on a separate carrier such as Verizon.

Noteworthy is that both the Antenna Array and the Processing unit can utilize both GSM and CDMA carrier platforms, thus making (given the appropriate carrier SIM card) the TIK-523 usable on a world-wide basis.

Since the Plum Case TIK-523 may be operated in a closed position, the TIK-523 also contains several external connectors and a power indicator light.  By simply glancing at the case closed, it can be seen if the case is operational without opening the case.  This is especially useful in inclement weather environments. Specifications of these connections may be found in Section 8.

Airline transport container suitable for a minimum of 100 airline trips

Impact Resistance Test; samples were exposed to impact using a bar weighing 13.2lbs with a hemispherical end of 3.2cm. Bar was dropped with its longitudinal axis vertical on to each sample’s weakest point from a height of 0.5m. Samples were conditioned to a temperature of -20°C before impact exposure.

Drop tests - a series of drops on each edge, corner and face of the case from a height of no less than 48cm (19”) and with loads of 6.8-31.8kg(15-70lbs) determined by case size. Samples were conditioned at lab ambient conditions and then temperatures of -28°C and +60°C for a minimum of 3 hours at each condition.

Section 5 – Antennas Used in the TIK-523 – Note that all antennas are MOUNTED INSIDE the case lid for vertical polarity and for specific distances between the antennas.  No single form factor antennas are used in Plum’s Professional Series’ product lines. 

Below are described the specific characteristics of each antenna: 

Cellular Antennas (4)   

The low profile cellular antenna range has been designed to perform even in extreme environments. At only 82mm (3.22”) high and protected by a robust high impact radome the antenna is almost impervious to daily wear, tear and impact.  All antennas are conditionally warranted for one year. 

The LPB offers excellent performance across a wide bandwidth. Mounted on a 400 x 400mm ground plane the LPB covers LTE frequencies across 700 and 800MHz as well as all global cellular frequencies from 698-960 MHz and 1710-2700MHz making it an extremely versatile product. Section 7 - Attachment Components

 

Steel: 316 Stainless for all latches, hinges, bolts, nuts, washers. 

Snap Closure System: Nylon with 10,000 tested openings and audible snap closures and Neoprene sewn to Mil Spec

Antenna Mounting Studs:  Neoprene molecularly bonded to polypropylene and steel.  

Other Connections:  When bolts are utilized, balanced-fulcrum™ technologies are used and comply with RoHS and 316 stainless steel requirements.
